Youngstown School is full in planned classes from Grades 3 to 6 in the Regular program. We will now only accept resident students in Grades 3 to 6 who have newly moved into the Youngstown School’s attendance area and David Thomas King School's attendance area, for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

If you register for Kindergarten or are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

Overflow designated school for David Thomas King

Youngstown School is an overflow designated school for David Thomas King School.  If your child is part of the lottery process at David Thomas King School and is not selected to attend the school, they will be able to attend our school.

Resident attendance area students from the David Thomas King School should enrol at their designated school first if they wish to be part of the lottery process and be placed on the callback list. If families do not want to be part of the lottery process, they can choose to register or pre-enrol directly at David Thomas King School.  Siblings of students who will be returning to the school the following year will also be able to attend our school as well.

More information about the lottery process is available on the Edmonton Public Schools website.

Youngstown School is proud to be a healthy school, and we are proud to be a partner with APPLE Schools. We firmly believe in being an active, supportive and positive school community that empowers everyone to make healthy choices.

A home version of our nutrition policy will be sent home with each child and is at the back of the handbook.

Youngstown will foster a healthy school environment that supports students, staff, parents and community members to choose healthy, active lifestyles. Active living and healthy eating habits will be encouraged and supported by sustainable programs within the school community.

We are very pleased to be able to provide all of our students with the Leader in Me process which is based on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. We believe that all students from Kindergarten to grade six can be strong leaders in their own right. The Leader in Me is an approach that allows staff to support students by fostering a deep sense of responsibility, respect and dedication to themselves, their school community and families.

Youngstown will empower everyone to make educated choices towards leading healthy lifestyles. A sustainable and positive environment will be a constant force in making healthy choice the only choice with the school community. Youngstown will work towards sustaining a goal of health for all.

Principal's Message

Dear Youngstown Families/Guardians,

Welcome to a successful school year at Youngstown. My name is Karen Bellous and I am the new principal. It is a privilege to learn and grow with this community.

We are a community who cares for each other. As our staff have been preparing for the arrival of our students we have been learning, growing and sharing about how we can continue to care for each other. This looks like ensuring our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs are met by being an Apple School and developing important skills in our Leader in Me program.

Caring also comes in our relationships with each other. Being seen, heard and understood is one of the greatest gifts we can give each other. It is my goal this year to get to know you, to value your gifts, celebrate all that makes you unique and learn from you.

Our doors are open and we welcome you to come and learn and grow with us. Please stop by, I would love to meet you.

Mrs. Karen Bellous

Principal Youngstown
