Lunch & Nutrition
Youngstown is pleased to be part of the APPLE Schools project. APPLE Schools strives to promote wellness and create environments that foster lifelong health and wellness by making the healthy choice the easy choice.
Since 2012 Youngstown School has been one school in the Edmonton area that has worked with students, teachers, parents and community member to create a healthy school community and improve the healthy eating and physical activity habits of students.
As a service to parents who cannot provide home supervision for their children, lunch supervisors have been hired to provide supervision at school.
The cost for this service is:
· $2.00 per day (plus a note)
· $15.00 per month per student
· $150.00 per year per student - $120.00/student if paid by the end of September
All students who stay for lunch on a regular basis must be registered at the office. Youngstown School provides lunch supervision at no cost to students in the BLA program. Students who eat lunch at school because of school-sponsored programs (e.g. choir) may do so at no cost on the day of the activity.
Lunchroom fees cover the costs of supervisors’ salaries, extra cleaning and administration costs. Lunchroom fees do not include the provision of food. Lunch fees are due at the beginning of the month and can be paid at the school office. If a student who regularly stays for lunch will be eating somewhere else or a certain day, it is important to let the office know. We ask that parents who are at home during the lunch hour have their children eat at home.
